Last Saturday saw the fifth championship race for the DLC German Endurance Cup at the Sachsenring. This time the race was held over a distance of 500 km. The team's line up for the home race included Ralph Uhlig, Andy Scheffel and Jürgen Scheffel at the start. The circuit was still dry at the start of the qualifying session and, despite the return of a light drizzle, Aprilia managed to secure the fifth place on the grid. Weather conditions worsened before the start of the race. The field of fifty-six teams started with heavy rain and our driver Ralph Uhlig managed to edge himself into the top group. The first stage of the race witnessed many falls. At the first fuel stop, the Aprilia was handed over in second place to Jürgen Scheffel. Over two hours into the race, the rain eased up and the track slowly began to dry. Six laps from the end of the race, the Aprilia had to make another pit-stop to change to slick tyres once again. The team took crossed the finish line in third place, extending its lead in the championship to 25 points.

Therefore, with only one race left, the its team's first place in the overall championship ranking is secured.

The last race in the DIC will take place on 18 September in Oschersleben. But before that date, the Aprilia Grebenstein Team will take part in the only German round of the Endurance World Championship on 27 August in the EWC category.
