LORENZO SAVADORI WINS, DOMINATING THE RACE FROM WIRE TO WIRE ASTRIDE HIS APRILIA RSV4 RF.
CALIA BATTLES FOR THE PODIUM DOWN TO THE LAST TURN, MAKING AN EXCELLENT FOURTH PLACE FINISH.
Misano Adriatico (Rimini, Italy), 21 June 2015 - The Aprilia RSV4 RFs dominated authoritatively in the home race. The Nuova M2 Racing standard bearers dominated, outclassing all their adversaries from the first turn when Kevin Calia overtook the riders ahead of him with an excellent start. A few turns later Lorenzo Savadori overtook his team mate and with an impeccable interpretation of the track brought home the win astride his Aprilia RSV4 RF, dominating the race from start to finish. With this win Lorenzo takes his advantage to thirty-four points ahead of the closest contender with fifty points still up for grabs in the championship.
LORENZO SAVADORI: “My guys were waiting for me below the podium with a nice T-shirt that had a crown and the words ‘King Of Romagna’ on it… I want to thank them because this win is a result of everyone's work. We are a very strong team! I am very happy with this magnificent result for me, for the team and for Aprilia. It was a really hard race because the track conditions changed during the race. There were four of us at the front and I realised straight away that the rider behind me didn't have a better pace than mine. I was able to hold onto the race lead with my Aprilia RSV4 RF until the chequered flag and it was a great satisfaction. I don't want to think about the championship. I'm working together with Aprilia on an important project to improve this fantastic bike more and more. There is a lot of time before the Jerez round, so now I'll take a few days of holiday before getting back to some hard training. I want to thank Aprilia, Nuova M2 Racing team, my sponsors and my friends who came here to cheer me on along with my family.” Kevin Calia continues to grow well along with his Aprilia RSV4. He finished the race in fourth place in the leading group less than a second behind his team mate Lorenzo Savadori. It was a battle down to the last turn for the podium, which he missed by just a tenth of a second, and he moves up to seventh place in the overall championship standings.
KEVIN CALIA: “Today's race went well! I started well just like at Imola, managing to get out in front of the rest straight away. Lorenzo overtook me a few turns later but I managed to stay with him until my gearbox slipped into neutral which made me lose a few positions. I rode the entire race with the lead group, trying to stay calm to get to the end. I couldn't find the right chance to try and overtake without taking too many risks. So I preferred taking fourth place home although I'm disappointed that I didn't get onto the podium. Fourth place is better than contact or a crash, so it went well. I would like to thank all of my followers, the Nuova M2 Racing team, Aprilia Racing and all my friends”.
