GREAT WEEKEND FOR NUOVA M2 RACING AND APRILIA: BEST LAP, POLE POSITION AND THE PODIUM WITH SAVADORI ON HIS RSV4 RF.
CONSISTENT IMPROVEMENT FOR KEVIN CALIA AT MOTORLAND DE ARAGON.
Alcaniz (Spain), 12 April 2015 - Lorenzo Savadori and the Nuova M2 Racing team brought home an excellent result at the début of the Aprilia RSV4 RF in the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup. After leading the pack for the entire race, the young Aprilia rider lost the top spot just a few metres from the wire. But with a second place finish at the début, and demonstrating great competitiveness by winning pole position, he laid the foundation to be a contender in the championship. Kevin Calia, consistently improving lap by lap, was leading the following group with an excellent race pace when he was forced to retire due to a technical problem that is yet to be determined.
LORENZO SAVADORI: “Obviously it would have been better to win but in any case I'm quite satisfied with second place. The strategies that the team and I decided to employ paid off with an excellent race pace that let us stay in the lead until just a few turns from the finish. Having another rider so close behind me was never a problem but in the last lap he managed to get into my slipstream and he overtook me. It was a good début. We know where work needs to be done on this new project with Aprilia and Nuova M2 Racing in order to constantly improve this RSV4-RF which is already extremely competitive. We'll see you at Assen next week where we'll have the chance to redeem ourselves. I want to thank Aprilia and Nuova M2 Racing for all their hard work to help me do better and better!”
KEVIN CALIA: “It was an uphill weekend until Saturday when we were able to identify which direction to go in order to be competitive. In the race I started from a position that did not do me justice, but with a good pace things got progressively better until two laps from the end when I was forced to retire for reasons that we still need to determine. It's a shame that I wasn't able to bring home some points, but next Sunday we'll definitely redeem ourselves! I want to thank the entire team, Aprilia and all of my followers who cheer me on from home.”
