Race 2 - Damage limitation closes estoril I
The 2nd round of the Superbike class brought some disappointments to Eni Aprilia Portugal Racing Team’s riders this Sunday, second and last day of the first round of the CNV Moto 2019.
Tiago Magalhães #19 started the day with a strong rhythm, lapping in the low 42’s. After a crash without consequences in Turn 1 of the Estoril track, the rider from Cascais was able to return to the track and beat his personal record with a laptime of 1.41.647, which guaranteed him the provisional pole-position, time with wich, at the end of Qualification, granted him the P2 for the second round of the weekend.
João Diogo Silva #15 experienced some difficulties in finding an ideal setting in his Aprilia RSV4 RF, also taking into consideration the possible tire choices for the race, being able to beat his personal record in the Free Practice when lapping in the 1.44’s and later in the 1.45’s on Qualifying and was able to secure P10 for the last Superbike class race this weekend.
After a less positive start, Tiago Magalhães was able to recover and join the front group, until he suffered a crash in Turn 1 on lap 6, which made him opt for damage management mode. Still, Tiago Magalhães managed to recover 5 positions, to score 7 points and finish the race in the 9th position.
João Diogo Silva felt confident with the setup found in Free Practice and Qualification and managed to maintain a good pace in the race, entering the 1.44’s, but suffered a crash on the last lap when he was fighting for the 8th position, having finished the race in 12th place.
Filipe Lourenço #193 did not participate in the inaugural round of the CNV Moto 2019 as he continues to recover from a muscle injury after having suffered a crash in the inaugural round of the Campeonato de España Cetelem de Velocidad - ESBK and expects to be 100% in the second round of the CNV Moto 2019.
The Eni Aprilia Portugal Racing Team riders are now preparing for the second race of the CNV Moto 2019, which heads to the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on 18th and 19th of May.
