Superbike at Misano: Savadori and De Angelis on the RSV4s again in the points

The eighth race week end in 2016 World Superbike season has ended for the Aprilia Superbike riders with a fifth and a thirteenth place. The second race of the Misano round saw Lorenzo Savadori and Alex De Angelis fight until the checkered flag to improve the results of Saturday’s race that was ended with a fall and one twelfth respectively.
Lorenzo Savadori led a race attack in the second group of riders fighting for the fifth position. The italian rider of the Team Iodaracing who started from the second row with the fifth fastest time achieved in SP2, was able to defend his position in the early laps, while from the middle of the race onwards there have been comparisons with Alex Lowes, Nicky Hayden and Jordi Torres. The Cesena rider never gave up and kept a very fast pace, snatching the fifth place from Alex Lowes who then was also overtaken by Hyden and Torres on the final lap.
Aggressive race for Alex De Angelis too. The rider from San Marino, who was forced to start from the last position on the grid due to an electronic problem of his Aprilia RSV4RF during the qualifying round of Sp1, tried to reassemble since by the starting lights went out. De Angelis, from the twenty-fifth position of the street is the past thirteenth on the first lap, then struggling for a long time, until the sixteenth step to the eleventh position. With the laps and the grip that was beginning to fall, De Angelis is then passed under the checkered flag in thirteenth position.
At the end of the eighth round of the World Superbike world rankings sees Lorenzo Savadori in ninth place with 100 points, while Alex De Angelis is sixteenth with 49 points.

"t was a good race for us this one. The only shame is about the crash of yesterday. Today we had the pace of the leaders but the crash of Davies makes us lose the contact of Fores with our group. Unfortunately me, Hayden, Lowes and Torres were shooting with the same lap times and in the end we were not able to go and get the spaniard in fourth place. I’m still happy that I managed to bring home a fifth place which is good for me, for Iodaracing and for Aprilia guys too. This weekend went better end better. Friday we weren’t very much ready and then we rebuilt the situation rising from SP1 to SP2, up to the second row, a pity only for the fall in Race 1. It makes me pleasure to be in the top five, the goal is to stay there for as long as possible to keep improving. The next race will be on a track that I have never seen, in America at Laguna Seca, I will try to learn it quickly with the Team help".

"After yesterday’s one mine was clearly another good race. It helped a lot to make a good start, but what is more important is that the set-up today It allowed me to be faster, as we also saw in the warm up this morning. The problem today has been around the middle of the race when the tire started to drop of grip and this has resulted in an excessive nervousness of the bike and that’s why I lost a couple of positions. this is certainly not what changes the positivity of the race. For me the important is being faster than at the beginning of the weekend and in the test on Monday will try to understand how to keep this pace consistently so do better in the next races".
