APRILIA PUMPED AFTER THE SPECTACULAR AUSTRALIAN RACE
Just a few days after leaving the asphalt of Phillip Island behind, the MotoGP circus tackles a completely different circuit and country: the final round of the “triple-header” is in Sepang, Malaysia. An extremely demanding track for bikes and riders. Besides the technical characteristics, variable weather and a high humidity level require constant work on the setup, whereas the riders must put their physical stamina to a hard test.
The Aprilia Racing Team Gresini arrives in Malaysia on the wings of enthusiasm after the spectacular performance at Phillip Island. At the end of a heated race, Andrea Iannone rode his RS-GP to sixth place, just a few tenths from the podium, whereas Aleix Espargaró battled in the leading pack, finishing in the top 10. This is the team’s best result in Aprilia’s MotoGP history and a confidence booster for the Malaysian race.
The MotoGP championship heads to one of the most alluring circuits on the calendar. Phillip Island, with its breathtaking scenery and unique atmosphere, is a unlike any other track in the world. Its twisting and fast layout, full of slope changes, always makes for spectacular races and is unanimously popular with the riders.
It is precisely these characteristics that make it particularly tricky in terms of finding the right setup, which must guarantee maximum performance with an eye to the best possible tyre operation. For this purpose, an additional session will be held on Friday, dedicated to testing a new Michelin rear option. Weather permitting, given the forecast that calls for rain and strong wind.
