APRILIA CLOSES OUT WORLD SBK 2015 WITH A PEREMPTORY DOUBLE WIN IN QATAR

TORRES AND HASLAM RIDE THE RSV4 RF TO VICTORY IN THE RACES AT THE LOSAIL CIRCUIT

ROMANO ALBESIANO: “EVEN WITH THE NEW REGULATIONS THE RSV4 IS STILL EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE”

Noale, 19 October 2015 – It could not have been a better conclusion for Aprilia in the 2015 World SBK Championship.
Under the artificial lighting on the Losail circuit in Qatar Jordi Torres and Leon Haslam rode the Aprilia RSV4 to a double win respectively in Race 1 and Race 2.
It was the second win of the season for Haslam, whereas for the young Spaniard it was his first victory in the championship which christens him, beyond a shadow of a doubt, as best 2015 rookie since Jordi is in his first factory derivative season.
For the Italian V4, in its latest RF version, this is confirmation of the extraordinary competitiveness that has resulted in seven World Titles, 42 wins and another 101 podiums since 2009. The RSV4 has brought home the victory wreath for both Max Biaggi (in 2010 and 2012) and Sylvain Guintoli in 2014. The Manufacturer titles came in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

This year the RSV4 expanded its extraordinary trophy case, competing for the first time in the entire Superstock 1000 FIM Cup, the championship for strictly factory bikes, and winning the Championship with Italian rider Lorenzo Savadori.

Romano Albesiano: “Aprilia participated in the recent SBK seasons with the consistent goal of battling for the championship title, often succeeding both in the Rider and Manufacturer competitions. The primary purpose of the 2015 season, where Aprilia began participating in MotoGP, was to maintain a strong presence in the category, testing the competitiveness of the RSV4 RF with the new rules. At Doha we received final confirmation of the fact that, despite the regulatory limitations, often set specifically to target our project, the RSV4 SBK still proved to be extremely competitive and even clearly superior to our rivals on some tracks. All of this was made possible by the significant evolutionary step taken on the 2015 model which also allowed Aprilia to take victory in the SSTK Championship. In 2016 the focus of our efforts, as we have stated several times, will shift even further toward our commitment in MotoGP. However, we are more than confident that our RSV4 SBK, should the opportunity arise to entrust it to a satellite team, will still be able to compete for top results.”
