LORENZO SAVADORI DOMINATES AT ASSEN WITH POLE POSITION, LAP RECORD AND THE WIN ON HIS APRILIA RSV4 RF.
KEVIN CALIA FINISHES FIFTH AND IS THE MAN OF THE RACE.
Assen (Holland), 19 April 2015 - After the lap record that gave Lorenzo Savadori pole position, the rider from Cesena capitalised by winning the race astride his Aprilia RSV4 RF. Kevin Calia, starting from the fifteenth spot on the grid, finished a comeback race in fifth place. After just one lap the red flag came out for oil on the track after a crash. At the restart the tough Savadori, supported by the Nuova M2 Racing team, stayed focused and repeated his lightning fast start from his spot on the grid. Lorenzo led the race wire to wire and set the race fast lap, crowning a perfect weekend with his victory. It was an exciting result for the team and for Aprilia which, with the RSV4 RF, in its rookie year in the category closest to the factory derivative class, took a win already in the second race. This moves Savadori into the top spot in the Rider standings, a position which Aprilia also holds in the Manufacturer rankings.
LORENZO SAVADORI: “I am very happy. This win was just what we needed! We worked hard from the beginning of the weekend. At Aragon we were in it until the last turn of the last lap, but here I was able to push hard thanks to the excellent fine tuning of my Aprilia. I kept a good pace and the last three laps I was able to open up a bit of a gap ahead of my rivals. I'd like to thank my entire staff, Aprilia, Nuova M2 Racing and the sponsors who support me. Special thanks also to the mobile clinic as they helped me ride in this race even though I had a fever.”
First slingshot start for Kevin Calia who, after just a few turns, was already in ninth place. The rider from Imola's confidence was unshaken and at the start after the red flag he did another excellent job popping the clutch, hurling himself into eighth place in the first lap. The race was reduced to nine laps so there wasn't much time to study the rivals. With an impressive pace Kevin managed to make a series of spectacular passes and finished in fifth place to confirm the competitiveness of the new Aprilia RSV4 RF.
KEVIN CALIA: “The race went very well. I was able to keep the same pace as the leaders. Starting fifteenth and finishing fifth in a nine lap dash race was very exciting and it was a lot of fun. I managed to demonstrate that I can stay with the leaders and thanks to this knowledge I'll be going to the next race at Imola more pumped up than ever to set my sights on the positions that count! As always I'd like to thank Nuova M2 Racing team, Aprilia and my followers who are always very passionate.”
