Superbike at Misano: Savadori and De Angelis on the RSV4s again in the points
The eighth race week end in 2016 World Superbike season has ended for the Aprilia Superbike riders with a fifth and a thirteenth place. The second race of the Misano round saw Lorenzo Savadori and Alex De Angelis fight until the checkered flag to improve the results of Saturday’s race that was ended with a fall and one twelfth respectively.
Lorenzo Savadori led a race attack in the second group of riders fighting for the fifth position. The italian rider of the Team Iodaracing who started from the second row with the fifth fastest time achieved in SP2, was able to defend his position in the early laps, while from the middle of the race onwards there have been comparisons with Alex Lowes, Nicky Hayden and Jordi Torres. The Cesena rider never gave up and kept a very fast pace, snatching the fifth place from Alex Lowes who then was also overtaken by Hyden and Torres on the final lap.
Aggressive race for Alex De Angelis too. The rider from San Marino, who was forced to start from the last position on the grid due to an electronic problem of his Aprilia RSV4RF during the qualifying round of Sp1, tried to reassemble since by the starting lights went out. De Angelis, from the twenty-fifth position of the street is the past thirteenth on the first lap, then struggling for a long time, until the sixteenth step to the eleventh position. With the laps and the grip that was beginning to fall, De Angelis is then passed under the checkered flag in thirteenth position.
At the end of the eighth round of the World Superbike world rankings sees Lorenzo Savadori in ninth place with 100 points, while Alex De Angelis is sixteenth with 49 points.
