Superbike at Sepang: Aprilia on top with Savadori after the first practices
The first day of practice at the Sepang circuit in Malaysia for the sixth weekend of the 2016 season in the Superbike races, was closed in very positive way for Aprilia thanks to the best absolute time clocked by Lorenzo Savadori at the end of FP2.
The novice rider in the Superbike and the Superstock 1000reignin Champion, is demonstrating a surprising ability to adapt to the new category evidencing a brilliant management of the sessions. Savadori has worked with the team to continuously improve the performance of his Aprilia RSV4RF, managing to get the best time just a few minutes left in the time available for FP2.
The rider of the Team Iodaracing that did not run in Malaysia since 2008, when he still ran in the 125 class, he got, in addition to direct access in Superpole 2, the best time on the new Sepang asphalt with 2.03.951. The good performance achieved in the “free practice” will not rest Iodaracing Team and Aprilia engineers who follow Savadori.
The priority now is to get a good position in SP2 and resolve difficulties in the second half of the race, as found in the previous rounds.
"Definitely see your name in front of all in the time sheet is very satisfying, and I entered immediately in Superpole 2 too on a track that had not raced for years and that for me is really unknown. But we must be realistic, we are doing our job for the race so my priority is to improve the second half of the race and this is the real challenge for us. I want to share my satisfaction for the best time of today with Iodaracing Team and Aprilia, and I want to say thanks to them for the work they are doing and for the help they are giving me sharing their big experience, especially here in Malaysia. For me this track is made even more treacherous by the new asphalt because in these conditions there is not a real line to follow, and then because I miss from Sepang since 2008, when I was racing in 125cc and riding the RSV4RF SBK, all is new for me here and having obtained the best time of the day is a great satisfaction".
