2019 APRILIA TUONO V4 1100 FACTORY FIRST RIDE
Since its inception in 2002 the Aprilia Tuono platform has seen a vast number of improvements that have transformed this bike from a competitive street fighter to the media-claimed “best naked bike” for over 15 years. On the street the Tuono is comfortable and easy to ride with its motocross style standard handlebars that give more control and maneuverability on city streets but take it on a track and the Tuono feels right at home.
What comes from the top spec race-oriented RSV4 RF, is improved in ergonomics, street-biased capability in the Tuono 1100 Factory. Of course, suspension, rider geometry and gearing can change anything into a more comfortable machine, but the Tuono shines in its ability to do both, road and track, with decades of knowledge from Aprilia’s racing heritage. This history of racing experience is what allows the Tuono platform to improve generation after generation. What makes a Tuono different than an RSV4?
First off, the Tuono 1100 Factory is set up for a more upright riding position creating a more comfortable relaxed style of riding. With the rider positioned upright more weight is shifted towards the rear. To compensate for this the bike is balanced with 52% of the total weight positioned to the front. On top of the overall dynamic, the electronic suspension absorbs more of the rough riding conditions seen on city streets. With the same electronics management system (ABS, Wheelie Control, Traction Control, Launch Control, Quick Shift & Cruise Control) seen on the RSV4 platform, the Tuono provides another level of control and safety no matter the riding conditions. The Tuono is the perfect bike to ride to the track, unleash its full potential and enjoy the relaxing ride back home all without having to do any track preparation.
As Bruno dePrato from Cycle World states “Given the extreme performance potential, I rode the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory to the Pirelli tire test track, after all the Tuono is shod exclusively with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa in 120/70ZR-17 front and 200/55ZR-17 rear measurements. So, no objection at the gate. The relative light weight and the superb balance of the chassis made the transition from road to track riding absolutely smooth. The bike is very neutral into a line and it stays neutral all through the corner—fast or medium, no problem—and opening up full blast when exiting, still well leaned over.”
The naked motorcycle category is unique in that it takes elements from the sportbike category to create a bike that is as exhilarating to ride yet more street friendly. The Tuono V4 1100 platform provides unrivaled performance with day to day comfortability. The Tuono V4 1100 comes in three different versions, the Tuono 1100 Factory, Tuono 1100 Factory Summit Attack Pikes Peak Edition and the Tuono 1100 RR. All three share the same characteristics but offer different components, colors and more. Weather carving through canyons, scraping your knees on track or weaving through city traffic the Tuono Factory makes every ride a thrill.
