2017 Aprilia Tuono V4 Tops Lists & Shootouts

Aprilia Tuono V4 Praise Continues

When we launched the revised 2017 Aprilia Tuono V4 Factory and RR this past summer at Circuit of the Americas, a MotoGP and Formula 1 track, the world's most respected moto journalists had nothing but good things to say.

Well, don't ask us; read about their comments in our Aprilia Tuono Reviewed: What the Media Says.

The raving continued throughout the industry over the past months within shootouts and lists of the top bikes of 2017. We'll share below, but first let's get into the heart of the matter on why the 2017 Tuono bike is received so well within the industry.

The Aprilia Tuono, both the RR and Ohlins-clad Factory, arrived with some serious refinement, including:

     1077cc 65-degree V4 engine that creates 173 horsepower @ 11,000 rpm and 89 ft/lbs of torque. The engine redlines at 13,000 rpm.

     Eight level, change-on-the-fly traction control

     Three level change-on-the-fly wheelie control

     Three-level Cornering ABS

Quickshifter with clutchless down and upshifts

Brembo M50 calipers and 330mm double disc brakes up front

     TFT dash

     Pit limiter

     Launch control

     Bluetooth multi-media platform

These touches from the folks at our home base in Noale, Italy, have helped the Tuono receive some outstanding mentions.

Cycle World's Best Standard of 2017: Aprilia Tuono V4 RR

Cycle World's yearly "Best of" series is always one of the most read pieces across the web. For its Standard category, it picked our Aprilia Tuono 1100 V4 RR.

"One doesn’t necessarily expect the deepest inspiration in the Standard category. Utility, sure. Flexibility, definitely. Comfort, without doubt. And the Aprilia Tuono V4 RR has a surprisingly strong expression of those qualities, but it is also one of the most inspiring all-around motorcycles ever to burn high octane.

"Start with the brilliant engine that makes sound and power to rank it among the best of all time. Add in a supernatural chassis and great electronics and no matter how you ride you will find two-wheeled joy. Every moment riding the Aprilia Tuono V4 RR is a peak moment. It’s the not-standard standard."

Ultimate Motorcycling: Top 20 Motorcycles of 2017

The staff at Ultimate Motorcycling have passionate writers for every style of riding, and once a year they get together and choose their top picks across all genres of motorcycling. Including for 2017 was the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory ABS.

"Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory ABS. It may be a handful on the street, but the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory is the ultimate naked bike, if you are fully committed to letting it loose. With a muscular 1077cc V-4 motor that cranks out a staggering 173 horsepower, this is not a motorcycle for the faint of heart.

"Sure, you can use the dizzying array of electronic aids to tone the Tuono down, but a big part of the magic is letting the motor spin up to 13,000 rpm while the incredible handling Öhlins suspension and Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires help you tame the beast from Noale."

Sport Rider Choses Aprilia Tuono V4 RR over the KTM Super Duke R

Sport Rider, which we already miss, is known for its hardcore shootouts. The last one was between two nakeds - the KTM Super Duke R and the Aprilia Tuono V4 RR.

Sport Rider says "And so it comes time to decide—where will true love take me? The Super Duke R is an impressive motorcycle. Its engine can charm anyone with its delicate power delivery, yet it has hair-raising top-end horsepower. But there’s just something missing. I know that no love is ever cheap, but the additional costs of the Performance and Track packs needed to bring it up to speed with the Tuono makes falling for the KTM a tough sell. Sorry, Austria.

"The Aprilia has it all. It’s fast, refined, and comes equipped with all the bells and whistles you can ask for on a naked bike. Its engine and chassis are balanced to near perfection—raw yet tamed, nothing else. Once you’ve had your taste of the Tuono, imagining anything else is a difficult thing to do.”

“Oh, Italy, how could I ever leave you?"

We concur, Sport Rider...we concur!
