The new bike: Aprilia Shiver 900
With the new Aprilia Shiver 900, the traditions of refined mechanical technology and an advanced chassis as the winning features are continued. The new Shiver 900 is the evolution of the original, which first appeared in 2007 and marked a milestone as the first factory bike fitted with Ride-by-wire technology with three engine maps to manage engine, throttle response, valve train and electronics.
The Ride-by-wire feature, which debuted as standard equipment for a production motorcycle on the first Shiver version, has also advanced and evolved; in this latest version, the system is more than a pound lighter.
A technological first from Aprilia derived directly from the racing world, the Aprilia Cube was the first MotoGP bike to use the technology in 2002 and since then, all of the global manufacturers have followed Aprilia’s lead.
Thanks to the new 900 Vtwin engine, the Shiver 900 increases not only crankshaft horsepower, but, more importantly, maximum torque is delivered at all engine speeds and at the highest levels for its class. More power and more character that translate into even greater riding satisfaction without sacrificing the handling ease and comfort that have always been characteristics of the Aprilia Shiver.
The Shiver is a bike that has made fledgling and expert riders alike fail in love, thanks to its chassis architecture which, in the best Aprilia tradition, draws on the know-how of a manufacturer that has won 54 world titles in its brief history and that currently has bikes in premier competition including MotoGP and World Superbike.
