GERMAN ENDURANCE - HOCKENHEIM

APRILIA GREBENSTEIN WINS THE 1000KM HOCKENHEIM, CLASS 4

Like every year the German DLC long-distance championship opened the season on Easter Saturday in Hockenheim. The Aprilia Grebenstein team from Gera started with its time-tested driver line-up including Ralph Uhlig, Andy Scheffel and Jürgen Scheffel. A total of 72 teams started the qualifying session in cool yet dry weather.

The Aprilia Grebenstein team reached an excellent fourth place on the grid for this race covering a distance of 1000 km, which here at Hockenheim is equal to 219 laps. The start of the 42nd edition of this long-distance classic was at 11:30 am sharp.

The starting rider Ralph Uhlig was able to secure a position in the leading group and passed the baton to Andy Scheffel at the first pit stop when he was in third place. Halfway into the race, the weather worsened when it started to drizzle. Despite these difficult conditions and a stop-and-go penalty due to speeding in the pit lane, the team succeeded in taking the lead of the race and keeping it to the finish line. This was the first victory for the Team from Gera at Hockenheim.
